25th January 1999:
As part of its long-term global partnership with the Walt Disney
Company, McDonald's today opens a themed restaurant at Disneyland
Paris, located in the Disney Village area.
27th January 1999:
The French newspaper "Le Parisien" breaks the story that the
second Disney theme park at Marne-la-Vallee has finally been
approved for construction. Broadly based on Florida's Disney-MGM
Studios, the new park will be a celebration of the cinema. The
targeted opening date is, as had been widely speculated over
recent weeks, 12th April 2002 - Disneyland Paris's tenth
anniversary. French finance minister Dominique Strauss-Kahn
indicated that final plans would be completed in few days and
the overall cost of the new park will be 4,000 million Francs.
